Abstract: | The creation of the Collective Security Treaty Organization as well as its existence has been under much scrutiny from the international community. While the West condemns the organization for being weak and ineffective, the CSTO seeks ways to enhance the organization and to gain international visibility. The main criticism stems from the role of Russia and states that the organization is a mere tool for the control of the member states. As history shows this collective security organization has failed to take necessary measure during times of conflict which has raised more questions about its viability and relevance. The different view of the member states plays a great role in this for they have been leaning towards the West. With that in mind that organization has made amendments to its Charter and all relevant organizational documents. This paper looks at what constitute the organization and what implications will the reforms have. |
